Tom and Cheryl

We're not your average couple next door, we have no jobs, we travel extensively, and we invest in Real Estate as much for the fun of it as for a way to increase our income. Our life is slowly evolving from the unhealthy to organics, raw foods and healthy herbs. We have 165 organic chickens, and a large organic garden. Our plans for our future new home will be green and earth-friendly.

We love what we do and it shows in the smiles on our faces as well as the carefree attitude we portray to our friends.

Chirp, chirp!

Organic eggs on the way

A family of coyotes howl in the distance, a gila woodpecker makes his silly little call in the tree outside my window, and I watch with a satisfied smile on my face as my chickens begin to explore their brand new chicken yard.

Curiouser and curiouser...

So Tom arrived at the airport Thursday afternoon, and checked in. I watched him go through security and disappear down the hallway, hoping there would be no problems. Normally, that would have been the case, but this time things just all went wrong.

Introducing the Vital Health Blog

While this blog focuses on what is important to me, I have many interests.  So, I decided to create the Vital Health Blog to keep my health-related ramblings in one location.

Our Experience with an Ionic Foot Bath

The first thing I asked Tom when we departed, was whether he felt it had helped him.  He said that he had no pain in his hands or his feet at all, and a pulled muscle in his back from about a week ago was no longer hurting him.  Interesting....

It paid for itself every year

I wrote yesterday about our new property that was "almost free."  Let me show you how that property, or any well-chosen property can pay for itself again and again.

Buy property for almost free

We're slowly settling into our new life in Arizona, and for us that means accumulating property.  I know, I know, they say there's a mortgage crisis going on in America, but that doesn't mean you have to stop buying.  Just a little careful decision-making is in order.

New Year's Day, 2009

New Year's Day, 2009.  Wow, time certainly flies!  We're slowly acclimating ourselves to our new lifestyle in sunny Arizona, and getting on with our new life.  Funny, in the last year, more has happened than I want to remember.  We closed on the majority of our property in Louisiana, went on a trip around the world, and began our new life in Sahuarita, Arizona.

The Tale of Smoky the Watch Cat

I've always loved my pets.  They depend on me to provide a loving home, food and a warm place to sleep, and in return they offer their love and sometimes they might save my life.  At least on one night in late December, that's what happened!

They forget that debt of gratitude...

I soon understood that when a person becomes angry with you, he no longer owes you a debt, be it monetary or a debt of gratitude.

There are more ways than one to make a profit

A few weeks back I wrote about a homesite we sold in Arkansas, and our intention to do a 1031 Exchange with the proceeds of the sale.

Restaurant food is unhealthy food!

Here are a few things I do to try and keep things in check when we travel.  I'm going to keep track of my progress toward a healthier lifestyle, and this is one issue that is going to take a lot of work.

Don't think "I can't afford it.", think "How can I afford it?"

Ah, the good life!  Who would have ever thought that I'd be spending my retirement years traveling the world with a guy so full of adventuresome spirit that there'd never be a dull moment.

Create a Habit Today

Nearly two years ago, I went to donate blood and was deferred due to the fact that my blood pressure was too high.  Now that was  a wakeup call!  Soon I was in my doctor's office and was officially diagnosed with hypertension.  My doctor gave me blood pressure medication and told me I'd have to take it the rest of my life.  My blood pressure was 155/108 and I was terrified.  He told me to just get in the habit of taking the medication in the morning, or in the evening, but always at the same time of day so I wouldn't forget it.

I've found a new photo website

I must have fifteen thousand photos on my computer, and sometimes I hate that it takes so long to upload a page on my websites when I put too many photos on it.  So I've been looking for a photo website I like.  Yesterday I spend most of the day uploading photos to Dropshots.

Let's Play Monopoly

Remember when you were a kid, how much fun it was to play Monopoly?  I used to love that game!  It was a fantasy type of game with real-life implications if you know how to use it.

Increased demand for rental property

Tom called me a while ago to remind me of his prediction that the huge rise in foreclosures will produce a great need for rental housing.  He had been listening to Paul Harvey on the radio and Mr. Harvey was speaking about the rise in apartments being built as a result of people losing their houses.

Wealth is there for the taking!  Sometimes that idea can be hard to grasp, like it was for me.  Eleven years ago, when I met Tom, he was successful and I was just a clerk at a truck stop.

Stunning fall foliage

If you've never experienced the turning of the leaves, you'll understand what I'm about to tell you.  Speaking as a southern living person, the yearly changing of the leaves is literally stunning.  I had absolutely no idea how breathtakingly beautiful they could be!1643651-1159686-thumbnail.jpg
